The Three Elves and the Walnut Cake
Brmbolček, Mudrík and Ťapko are three inseparable elves who live in a cosy little house hidden in an old oak in the middle of an enchanted forest. One day, by the brook, they hear little Píšťalka the mouse crying – she was taking her poorly grandma her favourite walnut cake, but her little backpack fell into the water and the cake got completely soggy.
NARRATOR: Deep in an enchanted forest, where the tall trees touched each other with their branches and the moss was as soft as a duvet, stood one enormous, ancient oak. Right at the bottom, behind a tiny wooden door, lived three little elves. The first was called Brmbolček. He wore a red hat with a big bobble and he was cheerful and brave. The second was Mudrík. He wore glasses on his nose and always carried his clever little book. And the third was the smallest, Ťapko. He wore a blue hat that kept slipping over his eyes. He was cheerful and kind, but terribly clumsy. One morning Brmbolček opened the door of the old oak.
BRMBOLČEK: Good morning, forest!
MUDRÍK: According to my book, a lovely day awaits us.
ŤAPKO: And according to my tummy, breakfast awaits us!
NARRATOR: All three of them burst out laughing. And whenever the elves were in a good mood, they always sang together.
SONG 1 – THE THREE ELVES SING
Three little elves, as you can see,
live inside an old oak tree.
Brmbolček, Mudrík, Ťapko too,
always find fun things to do!
Hey, hey, hop-hooray,
friends make every happy day!
NARRATOR: As soon as the song ended, a sad little voice came from behind the trees.
PÍŠŤALKA: Oh dear... oh dear... what shall I do now?
BRMBOLČEK: Did you hear that?
MUDRÍK: I did. Someone needs help.
ŤAPKO: Maybe someone lost their breakfast!
MUDRÍK: Ťapko!
ŤAPKO: What? I'm only guessing.
NARRATOR: The elves followed the voice. By a little stream they found a mouse with a yellow bow. Her name was Píšťalka. She was sitting on a stone, crying.
