Šarkan – The Little Racing Car with a Big Heart
A racing bedtime story
NARRATOR: Far, far away, beyond the green hills, where the roads wound through the meadows like long grey ribbons, there lay a little town.
It was called Wheelville.
And Wheelville was no ordinary town.
No people lived there.
It was home to... little cars.
Small ones and big ones. Red, blue, green and yellow.
Every morning the garage doors opened and the whole town slowly woke up.
The old bus set off on its usual route. The little lorry delivered crates of fruit. The little tractor went off to work in the fields.
And every morning, from one small garage, came a sound...
ŠARKAN: Vrrrrm... vrrrrrrm!
NARRATOR: That was Šarkan waking up.
A little red racing car with a white number seven.
Šarkan loved speed.
While the other cars drove calmly around town, Šarkan dreamt of the racetrack.
He imagined long straights, big bends, stands full of spectators, and himself crossing the finish line first.
You see, he had one big dream.
He wanted to win the Great Wheelville Race.
Every year the fastest cars from far and wide met there.
And the winner received a magnificent golden cup.
ŠARKAN: One day I'll win that cup! I'll be the fastest car in all of Wheelville!
NARRATOR: Šarkan dreamt about it every night.
He imagined the cup gleaming on the shelf in his garage.
He was sure he knew exactly what he had to do.
He had to be the fastest of them all.
And so he trained.
