Oddy – The Secret of the Thirteenth Gate
An adventure story for children aged 7 and up
NARRATOR: Deep beneath the surface of an unknown planet, where the sun had never shone, there was an enormous underground world.
It was called Nerath.
Instead of trees, there were steel towers. Metal bridges stretched between them, little robots flew about, and glowing rivers flowed beneath the city.
Everywhere you could hear the humming of engines, the hissing of steam and the rumbling of gigantic machines.
In the middle of the city stood the Central Core, which gave energy to the whole underground world.
And this is exactly where our little adventurer Oddy lived.
He had blue-violet skin, big golden eyes and long dark hair woven into braids.
On his back he carried a rucksack full of screws, little wheels and strange spare parts.
One evening he was sitting on a huge pipe high above the city.
ODDY: Oh, Nerath! How many secrets are you still hiding?
One day I'll explore every one of your tunnels!
NARRATOR: Oddy smiled and gazed into the distance.
But suddenly there came a strange rumbling.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Central Core began to flicker.
And then...
Everything went dark!
ODDY: Whoa! Who switched off the whole world?!
NARRATOR: The trains stopped, the machines fell silent and the whole city sank into darkness.
A warning voice sounded from the loudspeakers.
VOICE OF THE CENTRAL SYSTEM: Attention! Power failure!
All residents, stay where you are!
