Čudolín and the Night Above the Clouds
There is a little town you won't find on any map – it's called Čudolín. When night comes and the clock on the tower strikes nine, the whole town can rise from the ground and set off on a journey above the clouds. One night little Timo meets Čudko, a furry guardian with enormous ears, and together they set off on the first of many mysterious night journeys.
NARRATOR: There is a little town you won't find on any map.
It's called Čudolín.
By day it looks completely ordinary. It has little houses, a square, a bakery, a school and a tall tower with a clock.
But when night comes...
Čudolín moves.
Nobody knows where.
And it's today that our very first adventure begins.
In a blue house by the clock tower lived a little boy called Timo.
He was already lying in bed when he heard:
Dinggg... Dinggg...
The clock on the tower struck nine.
Timo closed his eyes.
Just then his bed gave the gentlest little shake.
TIMO: What was that?
NARRATOR: The window rattled.
The little glasses clinked in the kitchen.
And then...
Whooooosh!
The whole town slowly lifted off the ground.
The little houses, the trees, the square, the fountain - even the bench where old Mr Bonifác liked to sit in the afternoons.
Everything rose higher and higher.
Timo jumped out of bed and ran to the window.
TIMO: Wow!
NARRATOR: Beneath Čudolín there was no ground.
There were...
clouds!
Čudolín was sailing across the night sky like a big ship.
Little stars fluttered past the windows, and the moon was so close that Timo felt he could touch it.
Just then something tapped very softly on his window.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Behind the glass sat a tiny furry creature with long ears.
TIMO: Who are you?
ČUDKO: I'm Čudko. I guard Čudolín when it travels.
TIMO: And where are we flying?
NARRATOR: Čudko smiled.
ČUDKO: We never know.
NARRATOR: Timo opened the window and Čudko jumped onto the windowsill.
