Žofka and the Little Cloud – A Journey to the Animals
A bedtime story
NARRATOR: Once upon a time there was a little house at the end of a quiet village. And in that little house lived a girl called Žofka.
Žofka had lovely blonde hair, and in it a big bow that she loved to wear.
One evening everything was ready for bedtime.
The sun had long since set behind the hills. The moon was shining in the sky, and little stars were twinkling around it.
Žofka lay in her little bed and looked out of the window.
ŽOFKA: Goodnight, little stars.
Goodnight, dear moon.
NARRATOR: And just as she was about to close her eyes, something white appeared at the window.
At first it looked like a little tuft of cotton wool.
The tuft slowly floated closer to the window.
It had two cheerful eyes, pink cheeks and a wide smile.
It was a little cloud.
LITTLE CLOUD: Hello, Žofka.
NARRATOR: Žofka sat up in surprise.
ŽOFKA: You can talk?
LITTLE CLOUD: Of course. And I can fly, too. Would you like a little ride with me before bedtime?
NARRATOR: Žofka looked at her soft duvet.
Then at the little cloud.
And then back at her duvet.
ŽOFKA: But only for a tiny while. Because it's already time for sleep.
NARRATOR: The little cloud floated right up to the window.
Žofka carefully climbed on.
It was ever so soft.
Softer than a pillow.
Softer than a duvet.
And maybe even softer than the fluffiest cotton wool in the world.
LITTLE CLOUD: Hold on tight!
NARRATOR: Whoooosh...
