Meduška the Little Bee and Lúčka the Firefly
Episode 1 – The Way Home
Beyond the last fence of a little village there was a garden that very few people knew about.
By day it looked almost like any other. Roses grew there, and daisies, sunflowers and little blue bellflowers. Narrow paths ran between the flowerbeds, and by the old wooden fence stood a little bench.
But this garden was different after all.
It was enchanted.
The flowers whispered quietly to one another, the butterflies knew all the garden's secrets, and the bees carried not only pollen between the flowers, but sometimes little messages too.
And in this very garden lived a little bee called Meduška.
Meduška was a hard-working little bee. From morning she flew from flower to flower, collecting sweet nectar and humming cheerfully as she went.
"Buzz, buzz, from flower to flower,
buzz, buzz, flying in the sunlit hour…"
Her favourites were the big yellow sunflowers.
Whenever she landed on one, the sunflower would bend down to her and say:
"Good day, Meduška."
And Meduška would answer:
"Good day, Mrs Sunflower."
That's how it was every day.
But one evening something unusual happened.
Meduška was so busy collecting nectar that she didn't notice the sun slowly sinking behind the hill.
First the sky turned yellow.
Then it turned orange.
And finally soft pink and purple stripes appeared across it.
One by one, the flowers began to close.
"Goodnight," whispered a daisy.
